Training for Success replaces the Jobskills programme, however the concept is the same; young adults earn while they learn! This new official Government Training Programme, also funded by the Department of Employment and Learning (DEL), started on the 3 September 2007 and offers three programmes which aim to provide the tools that young people need to find employment and build their career. Training for Success is beneficial to the both the young person and the employer.

It gives you the tools that you need to get a job or get ahead in your career, as the programme offers both training opportunities and work placements through Job Ready and Apprenticeships.

Job Ready and Apprenticeships will give you, as an employer, the opportunity to enhance the interest of young people in the business environment and train them to industry-standards. This is valuable experience for the young people of Northern Ireland, and can contribute to building a more stable regional economy in the future.

The three programmes are Job Ready, Apprenticeships Level 2 and Apprenticeships Level 3.

This course is designed to prepare young adults to enter the field of work and is aimed at people aged 16-24. The course aids in giving young adults the tools and confidence that they need in order to find employment. Through experiencing different workplaces, Job Ready aids in deciding which work and training is most suitable for them. Once they have gained recognised skills and qualifications, they can proceed to the next level of Training for Success; apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships allow the young adults to learn skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst training with an organisation in their subject area. The young adult can build skills and earn a wage from day one. Apprenticeships are offered in both levels 2 and 3. This allows the young adult to continue their development in their subject area.

By offering an apprenticeship, an organisation can develop young people and their skills, so that they grow with their business – the way they want! The programme is therefore helps both the young adult and the employer.
